The Mary Orbison Memorial Scholarship is a tribute to the life and legacy of Mary Orbison. For 40 years, Mary was integrally involved in Bible Bowl study and competitions across the nation as a coach, participant, and test author, spreading her love for the word of God to countless individuals. She was the test author for Texas Bible Bowl from 2010-2022. After her passing in 2022, her family and friends established this scholarship in her honor to continue her mission of encouraging and supporting young people in their pursuit of biblical knowledge.
The award will be given to those students who have shown a strong commitment to studying and following God's word. Each high school senior must be nominated by his or her Bible Bowl coach, who will also write the recommendation letter. The Bible Bowl coach will email me the letter at the above email address by the registration deadline, and the family of Mary Orbison will decide the final recipient of the $1500 scholarship.
This scholarship is not only a way to honor Mary's memory but also a way to support and inspire the next generation of Bible Bowl participants. It is a fitting tribute to the impact Mary had on so many lives, and it will continue to support those who share her passion for the word of God.

In 2022 TBB honored Mary with plaque for her years of dedication to young people studying the Bible. Mary spent over two decades writing the test for National Bible Bowl and Texas Bible Bowl. Her attention to detail and Biblical accuracy was incredible. She took every effort to make sure the test furthered the youths understanding to the Lord's Word. TBB was thrilled to present this award to two of Mary's grandchildren.
