Who can test?: Texas Bible Bowl presents a year of Bible study opportunities for students of all ages, from 3rd grade to 115 years old. Although this is “Texas” Bible Bowl students from everywhere are welcome to participate.
Format: The Texas Bible Bowl will be in the same format that ACU used with one major change. We will be using the English Standard Version (ESV) of the Bible for our testing. This change was made for one major reason. There is a legal issue with reproducing the text from the New International Version. The Texas Bible Bowl does not want to have any copyright issues with this endeavor. We feel the ESV is a newer translation, very readable and a good choice for the competition. For more information on the ESV please visit the Why the ESV? page. The test will be a written test with five rounds plus a power round (the Elementary Division, 3rd-6th grades, is exempt from taking the Power Round). The rounds for the test will include a round of find the verse, a fact finder round, an identification round, and rounds over quotes and events.
Study Materials: Coaches are welcome to create their own study materials. However, if you would like other materials we will have them available on our downloads page. We have many things available to download from our site:
We will have the text, highlighted and formatted for study available to download
We will have a list of “one-words” available to download
We will have a study guide for the text that year, available to download
Bible Bowl consists of one subject of study each year, to be tested over in the Spring. The tests take place on a Saturday morning and includes approximately three (3) hours of testing.
For a schedule of the entire weekend please see the downloads page.
